DCDigesterCheckKnow before you clean.

Why Assess?

Cleanouts are expensive.
Information costs less.

Assessment creates a clearer basis for deciding what comes next.

Accumulation happens differently at every facility.

Feedstock, bedding, pretreatment, mixing, tank geometry, operating history and contaminants can all influence what accumulates and how quickly. A fixed calendar alone does not tell an owner whether a particular digester should be cleaned.

Sand & grit

Dense inorganic material can settle and occupy space that was intended for active digestion.

Solids & sediment

Accumulated material may reduce usable volume and can warrant additional investigation.

Contaminants

Food waste and SSO streams may introduce plastics, glass, metals and other unwanted material.

Operating indicators

Changes in mixing, pumping, throughput or other operating observations can provide useful context.

Assessment before action

Our role is not to declare that every older digester needs cleaning. We review the available evidence and provide findings so the owner can decide whether monitoring, specialized investigation or cleanout planning makes sense.

Important: DigesterCheck does not represent that Canadian digesters are subject to a universal fixed cleaning interval. Regulatory, permit, OEM and site-specific requirements should be evaluated separately where applicable.
